Space Design
We’re always looking for people who are passionate about the work and the craft of communication, and who seek to constantly evolve - in all ways, personal and professional.
A special Indo-German project, quite unlike any other, designed with friend and partner Steffen Fillibeck. The brief was to convert a 33 acre island in the Arabian Sea into a high end resort. We planned the experience, keeping the incredible natural heritage intact and wild. Our task involved mapping the island, designing the cabins and resturants, creating the interiors holistically, curating the experience, from the activities to the service concept, and then launching it.
A collaboration with friend and architect Jayanth Gopal, Ooty's gastronomic benchmark, The Periodic Table, is set in what was previously Higginbothams, and once the old Tonga office during the British era. The world of the herbalist, alchemy and the elements - is woven into the old structure, with it's fine wooden flooring, and everything on display, from the wall shelving with remedies for almost any malady to the little embroidery on the serviettes. Central to the main hall is an installation, a mutated benzene ring capturing the organic idea of an ancient alchemy.
The Lost Caravan - the award winning gastropub on Church Street, Bangalore. Located on the third floor of a somewhat ignored building, the space was about
An imposing 40 foot tall structure that captured the eye of every airport Bangalore traveller during a year-long period. Placed strategically on a roundabout that led to the new international airport, this installation for real estate major Bren Corporation presented the essence of the brand. Raw human engineering and collaboration meets ambition. The central element was made of ACP and steel, with the two human giants varnished just enough to allow the organic rusting process take over just so that the colour tone changed across time.
The effort in redesigning the Epson India corporate office was special. Epson is all about innovation, and so we took advantage of the space that was already in use, adding warmth and an open design stylistic. A mezzanine storage level was created, the space was planned for collaboration and openness, and the theme of imaging was exploited with Epson prints and Epson projection.
1912 was Bangalore's first high end nightclub, occupying the old, stone Book and Tract Society building on St Mark's Road. We contributed to the changeover in the stylistic language of the space, where grunge metal and wood from the previous concept was converted to a retro-style, luxurious lounge bar. The food and drink on the menu, and the standards of service were both special. We brought in experience design, visual devices (like Dali's clocks on the stairs), helped reorient the space, and ran the menu and promotions for a year after launch.
